[Post-Game Thread] The Houston Rockets (9-9) clap the New Orleans Pelicans (7-11) 126-112 behind 27 points on 11/13 shooting from Wood

5 straight wins for Houston. These guys are not fucking around
[–]Thunder collisondopplganger 71
Houston is this year's version of the 19/20 Thunder. Trade away the face of the franchise, and the weird group of players left over somehow make the playoffs.
[–]Mavericks Greentempo 52
Similar but I'd say this team on paper SHOULD be really good if everyone is healthy. That Thunder team had no right to be as a good as they were but Paul and SGA really showed out.
[–]Knicks pyrotech_support 32 指標 2小時前
If healthy, CP3 + SGA + Schroeder + Gallo + Adams were not “no right to be good”. Those were all known good to very good players. CP3 was just much healthier than everyone thought.
[–][LAL] Vlade Divac weeyummy1 17
The very definition of hindsight bias here lmao. Vegas projected OKC as a bottom 3 team in the west.
SGA showed promise but was not expected to have the breakout season he did. CP3 had looked completely washed in the playoffs. Schroeder was an average PG who sometimes played behind Jeff Teague.
I was personally pretty high on them because of CP3 and Gallo, but the rest of the roster was not seen as very good.

Wall and company playing with so much confidence. Before they ripped off this amazing win streak, I saw them play and was like damn, they are actually a good team. I'm a nugs fan but ill be rooting for the Rockets all year.

As a Rockets fan, it is really weird how we went from the most hated team in the league, to one of the most loved.
[–]Rockets Chaps_and_salsa 19 指標 2小時前
I think I’m in love.
[–]Rockets mcfc08 86
We got 48 points in a quarter AND JAMES HARDEN MADE 0 OF THEM!
Fuck yes, this team is fun!
[–][DAL] Wang Zhizhi suzukigun4life 91
Rockets went from down 10 to up 18 within the same quarter
[–]Thunder Giellelekelke 49
they’re so fun to watch now it’s nuts
[–][MIA] Alonzo Mourning Ode1st 2
Fun to watch = not watching Harden draw fouls and shoot threes all game. Rockets are playing basketball again
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 201
Most fun rockets team I’ve ever watched outside of 17-18
Facts bro, great defense and exciting young players
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 51
Can’t wait for Kevin Porter Jr
Hope He can sort himself out in G-league
[–]Supersonics Amedais 4
Genuine question.. are there exciting young players? The only one I’ve heard any chatter about is Tate.
Wood is 25 and has only played 1.5 seasons worth of NBA games, Tate is a rookie, Mason Jones is a rookie (dropped 24 earlier this season), and Kevin Porter Jr is 20
[–]West John_isnt_my_name 36 指標 2小時前
Tbf like half our players are Undrafted rookies
this team with harden instead couldn't have made some noise in the west?
[–]San Diego Rockets blueberryy 60
Could have, but wouldn't be Nets level
[–]Lakers SuperBatSpider 47
Harden wants to win, he’s been “making noise” for years now
Yes he could get another 2nd round exit, maybe WCF if lucky enough. Harden is full of this, he wants a ring and nothing more. No matter what Wood and Wall did, there was a really small chance they could beat the lakers. At least in Brooklyn he has a much bigger chance, not saying that Lakers aren't still the better team.
but it's still not just the lakers tho..
like are we sure the nets make it out the east? are they better than the Clippers? idk
but i know they're in the mix with like 76ers, bucks, celtics, clippers, utah, denver, which is what the rockets would have been as well if he had bought in and committed
[–]Hawks BenTek9s 6
Yeah, but now he doesn't have to be the best player in the biggest moments of the playoffs, which is a big win for him
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 4
Yeah less pressure when they lose
WE WANT BROOKLYN
When the Rockets have to defeat James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets in the 2021 NBA Finals
This is what my daydreams are made of.
Christian Wood for Most Improved and Jae'Sean Tate for All-Rookie 1st Team let's goooo….
And maybe Silas for Coach of the Year
Fuck it give Tate DPOY
[–]Wizards KimBulgogi 13
Idk who this wood guy is but hes somehow playing at all star level this season.
Walking 20-10, very efficient and an excellent finisher/lob catcher/3-point shooter (for a stretch 5). Right now he is an average defender at best but is improving.
[–]Raptors ClashQuester 26
I really wish the Raps pushed for Wood in the offseason, such a great pickup for Houston
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 106
MIP is his tbh
[–]Rockets NearbyComfort 30
Grant has a good case too but it's between those 2 so far.
It's got to the point I don't even find these games surprising. He's a consistent allstar production guy lol
[–]Knicks pyrotech_support 21 指標 2小時前
If Christian Wood were a free agent this offseason, would he be a max player?
25yo, putting up 23/11 on 55/38/70 and good defense thus far?
[–]Rockets MPCurry 19
30 mil at least yet here we are paying him 13 for three years lol. I almost feel guilty that we aren’t giving him enough. Him, Wall, and Coach Silas have literally given the city hope and he deserves way more money.
We took a risk on him and this allows us to have a very deep team. It’s all good.
[–]Toxic-Raioin 4
his defense needs work.He needs all the minutes on defense he can get to improve. Woods touch in the paint is unreal tho.
[–]Knicks pyrotech_support 5 指標 1小時前
He’s looked pretty good recently on defense, now that they actually have some consistency in their lineups and system. His recognition still needs work, and he gets backed down by heavyweight bigs, but he’s been a good deterrent at the rim without fouling and he’s switchable.
I’d say he’s about an average defensive C right now, which is much better than I expected.
[–]San Diego Rockets blueberryy 29
Funny how so many people in this sub were saying Levert is better than him and that we lost the trade. Levert hasn't done shit and he isn't young either. Put some respect on Oladipo's name.
He should stay with Houston. He'll get paid and he fits. Needs to forget about the Miami thing.
[–][WAS] John Wall MagyarFoci29 29
Probably depends on how the season goes for them. He said he loves the other players on the Rockets
[–]Rockets LordTreat 29
Wouldn’t mind a 2-3 year deal if he keeps playing like this.
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 31
I think he might stay but having max space after Tucker and him Walk seems a bit attractive
[–]Pelicans LetsObtainThisBread 46
The pelicans confuse me.
Is their defence always this butt?
[–]NBA Chris_Paul_3 8 指標 2小時前
Yes, we have one of the worst defenses in the league. The only team that has a worse defense than us are the kings.
[–]Heat Rahnamatta [
Lonzo is so inconsistent. I still can't understand him. I don't know if he went 7/13 yesterday because he was lucky or if this was a bad shooting game.
